InfoQuest, (May 13, 2020) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said that at the cabinet meeting held on May 12, his ministry reported on the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control and the guidelines on how to respond if the second phase of easing lockdown measures are implemented. The cabinet meeting attached great importance to the epidemic prevention and control and the assessment of the overall situation, and at present the public must follow the social distancing measures, because if good discipline can be maintained, the chance of contracting the virus will be lowered.

As for allowing civil servants to work from home, Mr. Anutin said there was no need to seek cabinet approval, that any department could try such method if it got ready, and that there were many alternatives in addition to working from home, such as staggered working hours.

The meeting did not involve discussions on the lifting of the emergency decree which will be effective until May 31, 2020 and the results of the opinion survey on the lifting.
