NANJING, May 9 (Xinhua) – East China’s Jiangsu Province will step up construction of Internet of Vehicles (IoV) pilot zone and strive for a higher level and more distinctive IoV industrial ecology in an all-round way, according to a meeting held Saturday in Wuxi City, home to China's first first national IoV pilot zone .
The IoV, an application field of the Internet of Things (IoT) and one of the most important scenarios for 5G application, has developed promising market demand and industrial potential in recent years.
Wuxi, a leading industrial city in Jiangsu province, started the preliminary exploration of IoV development in 2017. One year later, the world's first city-level C-V2X demonstration application project was launched in Wuxi. China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved the establishment of Jiangsu (Wuxi) IoV pilot zone, the first national IoV pilot zone in China, in May 2019.
Hu Xuetong, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, said that Jiangsu has sorted out key tasks for development of the IoV industry in the next two years and ten landmark IoV projects for 2020.
Ling Yaochu, chief engineer of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transport, said the deparment will further strengthen inter-department cooperation and cross-industry integration, carry out research on IoV and intelligent transportation, and push forward the key research and projects of collaborative autonomous driving.
At the meeting, Jiangsu announced its support for Nanjing (Qinhuai District) to establish a provincial-level IoV pilot area and officially inaugurated the IoV technical standardization committee.
Meanwhile, Wuxi City and the Ping An Insurance Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement to carry out cooperation on IoV industrial development, new infrastructure, smart traffic management and service, smart traffic innovation and smart traffic scientific research.
