BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- North China's Hebei Province has started and resumed construction of 174 major cultural and tourism projects.
Among the total, there are 96 new projects and 78 reconstruction and expansion projects, involving a total investment of 168.4 billion yuan.
Hebei Province is scheduled to hold the fifth tourism industry development conference in 2020. The conference, which has been held since 2016, has served as a driving force to promote economic transformation and upgrading in the region, optimize urban and rural environment, and help alleviate poverty.
Statistics showed that over the past four years, the tourism industry development conference at the provincial and city levels have spurred 1,129 villages to develop rural tourism, bringing benefits to 498 poverty-stricken villages and 230,000 impoverished people.
