China Telecom to recruit more graduates in emerging fields this year

March 27, 2020

Abstract : China Telecom, one of the major telecommunications operators in China, on Thursday unveiled its graduate recruitment plan for this year, providing a great number of jobs in emerging fields.

BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- China Telecom, one of the major telecommunications operators in China, on Thursday unveiled its graduate recruitment plan for this year, providing a great number of jobs in emerging fields.

In 2020, the operator plans to recruit more than 11,000 graduates, 10 percent more than last year.

Graduates in emerging fields, such as cloud computing, big data, IoT, Internet finance, artificial intelligence (AI) and network information security, will be given the top priority in China Telecom's recruitment.

Jobs provided for graduates in the emerging field are projected to take up 40 percent of the total, said China Telecom.

The company stated that its social recruitment would also focus on introducing talents in 5G, cloud computing, big data, AI and other high-end technologies. A total of 1,000 related jobs will be offered.

As China devotes to building new infrastructure such as 5G networks and data centers, China Telecom so far has put about 75,000 5G base stations in operation nationwide and it will work with China Unicom, another telecom giant, to build 250,000 5G base stations across the country by the end of the third quarter.

China Telecom said in 2020, it would invest about 4.5 billion yuan in constructing cloud computing and big data projects, which will occupy an estimated 884,000 square meters of area. (Edited by Su Dan with Xinhua Silk Road, silviasu07@163.com)
