InfoQuest (March 25, 2020) -- The Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations B.E. 2005 will be issued on March 26 to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and other necessary measures have also been discussed, according to the Government Spokesman Bureau.
The most important thing is to carry out works. The government has upgraded the Covid-19 disease control and prevention center to the Center for Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES Covid-19), and also set up working groups to coordinate the work. The permanent secretary of each department, as the person in charge of the principal affairs of the department, is responsible for following up on measures previously rolled out, collecting relevant information, making adjustments according to the actual situation, and proposing additional measures to the CRES Covid-19 which shall be subject to the final decision of the prime minister. In order to really integrate related works effectively, the prime minister has the final say.
A joint meeting will be held at about 09:30 a.m. every day, during which the heads of the various government departments shall brief on their works. If additional measures are proposed, they will be announced. Following the announcement, the paramount task is to set up working groups and appoint persons in charge for the CRES Covid-19 to be responsible for follow-up works.
The CRES Covid-19 will release its measures from time to time, and its Phase 1 measures on how to reduce the spread of the virus will be published on March 26. It may call on the public to cooperate with the government. As for the mandatory closure of some places, it will be implemented in the next phase. The closure measure will mainly depend on the cooperation of the public. The measures taken by the government are not intended to put any group in trouble, but are forced by the situation and for the sake of the public's health.
The prime minister stressed that the government will do all it can to take care of the health of the people, and he called on the public to follow the measures introduced by the government, especially not to return to their hometown. If someone has to return their hometown, all of them must comply with the relevant screening measures and be quarantined at home or designated places like overseas returnees and foreign tourists. Now that the country has seen a significant increase in infections, the government must develop other measures to respond to it, including preparing more hospitals, field hospitals, large quarantine facilities and adequate medical supplies, which will be discussed at the CRES Covid-19 conference.
The public should not panic, but should keep an eye on the official information. The Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will release information through social media platforms every day and provide channels for people to consult the staff directly. In addition, information from the Office of the Prime Minister and the publicity department of the CRES Covid-19 will also be released every day.
After the emergency decree was announced, the government hopes that the public will use social media prudently and not spread false information. Under the decree, government workers, police and soldiers will be authorized to set up checkpoints. The government is ready for all. If the situation still cannot be brought under control, it will step up its prevention and control measures. And everything will proceed according to relevant procedures.
