BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- China’s Ministry of Water Resources has adopted a series of measures to promote an orderly resumption of major water conservancy projects amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
By February 29, among the ongoing 110 major water conservancy projects, 80 of them had resumed construction, accounting for 72.7 percent of the total.
An official with the ministry told Xinhua on Monday that as major water conservancy projects play a critical role in ensuring economic development, the ministry has urged local authorities to accelerate resumption of work and set up the mechanism for major epidemic prevention and control.
The ministry has also assigned specific persons to be responsible for tracking the progress of work resumption.
He noted that the ministry will continue carrying out the list management system and especially promoting the resumption of major water conservancy projects in the northeast and northwest of China, with an aim of resuming more than 100 projects by the end of March.
