MILAN, Feb. 25 (Class Editori) -- Presented by the CEO of the Consumer Business Group division, Richard Yu, in a conference on a live-stream due to the cancellation of the Mobile World Congress, Huawei's new devices focuses on the concept of a technological ecosystem that increases ease of use and productivity. The main product presented was the new Mate Xs smartphone with foldable display, an evolution of the model presented last year. Mate Xs has a foldable display which, once opened, has an 8-inch screen in 4:3 format, while when closed it has a 6.6-inch main screen and a 6.38-inch rear screen, with a vertical bar for cameras.
Huawei has completely revised the hinge that allows the realization of a foldable screen and the polymers used for the foldable display, now more resistant to daily use. During a first quick test, Mate Xs shows its fascinating design, characterized by the foldable display and a robust and precise metal alloy structure. Once opened, the 8-inch display it's comfortable to use just like a tablet, thanks also to the customization of the Android 10 operating system in the open source version and therefore without the Google apps. It was developed by Huawei and allows you to use two apps side by side and easily drag texts, images and other contents from one to the other simply by dragging it with your finger, just like on a real computer.
Performance is instead guaranteed by the new Kirin 990 5G processor, which offers 20% improved performance compared to the previous model while ensuring the same and total compatibility with all telecommunication networks - 5G, 4G, 3G and 2G - as well as further energy savings. This is also thanks to the sophisticated graphene cooling system optimized for the foldable design. In this case too, a first and quick test showed a level of fluidity and detail typical of a PC with games like Asphalt 9, while the possibility of doing more tasks at one time is possible thanks to the combination of the powerful processor and the large display.
Huawei put all the cameras of the Mate Xs in a vertical bar next to the rear display, which can thus take advantage of the 6.6-inch screen but also the 6.38 display to get a real-time preview of the selfies. That is possible also thanks to the performance of the 40-megapixel main camera with an ultra-wide-angle 16-megapixel lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens and hybrid magnification up to 30X and a 3D depth camera. Mate Xs will also be available in Italy for € 2,499.
Huawei has also launched its new MateBook laptops, which have the latest generation processors compared to the models presented last year and recently arrived on the Italian market. The flagship model, MateBook X Pro, now has the Intel Core i5 and i7 processors that bring with them improved performance, further reduced energy consumption compared to the already excellent levels of the current model and the support for the Wi-Fi 6 standard, which increases in remarkable connection speed and stability. New colors available as well, while the excellent 13.9-inch touch display remains unchanged, which presents a truly filiform frame also for Huawei's choice to integrate the front camera for video calls in the keyboard, under the central key of the function keys so as to ensure the mechanical guarantee of privacy when not in use. The prices of MateBook X Pro, which will not be soon available on the Italian market, vary from € 1,499 for the version with i5 core processor to € 1,999 for the model with Intel core i7 CPU and Nvidia MX250 graphics processor with 2 GB of dedicated RAM.
Waiting for the new flagship smartphone, P40, which should be launched at the end of March, Huawei has also presented MatePad Pro, a tablet with an elegant design that closely resembles that of iPad Pro also for accessories, namely a cover with keyboard and a electronic pen that magnetically attaches to the edge of the device. Based on a 10.8-inch display with a very thin edge, it is equipped with a Kirin 990 processor and based on the open source Android 10 version, i.e. without the Google Apps ecosystem starting from the store, replaced by Huawei App Gallery. As in the case of the Mate Xs, the MatePad Pro also offers Huawei Share, which allows you to quickly share images, text and files between the tablet and smartphones by Huawei, as well as apps that allow you to recognize the handwritten text on the display with the electronic pen.
