BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) – China-Europe freight train service has recently expanded its capacity in many cities across China, and airlines have also increased its cargo routes to help enterprises resume work and production amid the COVID-19 outbreak, reported Chinanews.com recently.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, ports in many countries have adopted different control measures on freight liners calling at China during the outbreak, which has caused impacts on the external freight shipments of resumed enterprises.
To ensure regular operation for the freight train service amid the epidemic, local enterprises and railway operators in south China's Guangdong province have taken steps to improve the efficiency of China-Europe freight trains and helped more operational companies sell their products to the world via the freight trains.
A freight train carrying communication equipment and daily necessities produced by local enterprises in Guangdong set out on Feb. 21, and the efficiency of this train is 30 percent higher than ordinary, providing enterprises with a reliable transportation channel.
With the orderly resumption of production and work, China Southern Airlines has also stepped up the opening of international cargo routes, carrying out 50 all-cargo flights every week.
Although the epidemic has caused setbacks for China's transportation industry, the China-Europe freight train service in southwest China's Sichuan province witnessed an 80 percent increase of trains compared with the same period last year, shipping out products such as electronics and automobiles.
Affected by the epidemic, some manufacturing and electronic goods suitable for road and air transport are gradually being transferred to rail transport, according to a person in charge of the Chengdu International Railway Trains Co., Ltd, adding that the freight trains has strengthened China's trade cooperation with the B&R countries.
Based on the demand for cargo transportation, the train operation in Chengdu has organized the freight trains operation accordingly under measures taken to give priority to the work resumption of enterprises. (Edited by Jiang Feifan, 346129473@qq.com)
