MILAN, Oct. 22 (Class Editori) -- Global Blue Italia renews its partnership with Air China. The tax free shopping service company looks to 2020, the year of Italy-China tourism. By next year China could be the country with the largest number of tourists in the world.

On the basis of the new partnership, travelers, holders of Air China loyalty program "Phoenix Miles" cards will be able to continue to enjoy an exclusive welcoming in the Global Blue Lounges and take advantage of all the advantages offered, while Gold and Platinum Card holders will enjoy a "fast track" in the refund to Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino, airports that Air China connects with 24 non-stop weekly flights to Beijing Shanghai and Hangzhou, the silk ancient capital.

According to the Global Blue data of the first half of 2019, in fact, the Chinese continue to be the first in the ranking to make tax free purchases not only in Italy in general with 28% of the total market, but also in all four main destinations for the shopping: from Venice (where they accounted for 35% of the total) in Milan (33%), in Rome and Florence, both with 28%.

Tax free shopping exempts international tourists from paying VAT on purchased goods. Globally, the market is worth about 60 billion dollars. 80% of expenditure is concentrated mainly in Europe and Italy, together with France, is the country where it is more widespread. As for the Chinese, they represent around 40% of consumers, with a growing trend. This is also why new initiatives are emerging alongside established companies such as Global Blue, such as the Stamp and Vatlynx start-ups, with the aim of simplifying procedures and making them more eco-friendly. Today commission costs can range from 30% to 50% of the VAT.
