NANJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- International cooperation in green energy industry has entered the fast lane under the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative, and it has become a world consensus that extensive international cooperation would help realize the sustainable development of green energy industry.

Attendees from the countries and regions including Laos, Mongolia and Italy discussed the green energy development under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and explored opportunities for the international green energy cooperation at the Belt & Road international green energy cooperation forum, a subforum of the second International Green Energy Development Conference (IGEDC) held in Yangzhong, east China's Jiangsu Province, on Wednesday.

Sinava Souphanouvong, Vice Minister of Energy and Mines, Laos, said that the Lao government attaches importance to bilateral relations with Chinese government, especially the BRI. At present, Chinese government and energy developers spare no effort to assist Laos in economic and social development. Most of the Lao infrastructure such as hydropower stations and railways are developed by China.

In the process of constructing the Belt & Road, it is necessary to carry out international green energy cooperation and give full play to the complementary advantages of all parties in the green energy technologies and resources, which will help accelerate the transformation of global energy industry into efficient, clean and diversified mode and promote global energy sustainable development, according to Li Yue, Vice President of China Economic Information Service (CEIS).

In recent years, China has carried out numerous energy cooperation projects with the Belt & Road countries, driven by the BRI.
