BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) – China’s mobile phone and electronics maker Xiaomi announced on Tuesday that its net profit surged 71.7 percent year on year to 3.64 billion yuan in the second quarter of this year.
In the first half of this year, the Beijing-based company’s total revenue climbed to 95.71 billion yuan, up 20.2 percent from the same period of last year and its adjusted net profit increased 49.8 percent year on year to 5.72 billion yuan.
During the January-June period, revenue from the company’s smartphone business rose 9.8 percent year on year to 59 billion yuan , and meanwhile the company saw its smartphone shipments reach about 60 million worldwide.
Besides, revenue from Xiaomi’s Internet of Things ( IoT ) and consumer goods amounted to 27 billion yuan in the first half of 2019, up 49.3 percent year on year, while the company's Internet services revenue totaled 8.8 billion yuan, an increase of 22.9 percent year on year.
Xiaomi launched in February this year its first 5G smartphone model in Spain and its second 5G smartphone model was expected to be unveiled in China in the second half of this year.
