InfoQuest (August 08, 2019) -- Mr. Adul Chotinisakorn, director general of the Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) of the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), revealed that MOC had issued the Rules for Product Origin Qualification Inspection 2019, which is related to the application for enjoying preferential tariff concessions. The notice took effect on July 11, 2019. The above-mentioned notice will replace the original notice of rules for product origin qualification inspection application. All applications should follow the guideline of the new notice to ensure the compliance with existing rules of Certificate of Origin (C/O).
"The new notice has simplified the procedures for product origin qualification inspection; message will be sent to make exporters know about the application form for product origin qualification inspection. In this way, the relevant procedures will be simpler and export will be more convenient. Besides, the original qualification inspection procedures for acquiring Form A in exporting textile products to EU region have been scrapped, and the new rules have taken effect," said Mr. Adul.
For product origin qualification inspection according to article 01-24 (agricultural and processed agricultural products) in tariff rules, exporters can submit the application for product origin qualification inspection and C/O at the same time. According to article 25-97 (industrial products) in tariff rules for product origin qualification inspection, exporters have to submit the application for product origin qualification inspection before submitting the application for C/O. The product origin qualification inspection applied by relevant exporters has a validity of two years; yet for any changes in the production information or price of exports, exporters should re-apply for product origin qualification inspection.
