BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Hezhou City, in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has been focusing on the interactive development of tourism and health industries in recent years, and built a batch of health resorts and health tourism routes.
So far, Hezhou City has launched 91 eco-health industrial projects, including 35 projects under construction with total investment of about 21.55 billion yuan. It is also planning 56 key projects, with a total budget of 27.95 billion yuan.
For the next step, Hezhou will increase investment in tourism, especially for leisure consumption, making Hezhou the preferred destination for tourists from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, said Lu Xiaoyi, deputy director of Hezhou Culture and Tourism Bureau.
Statistics show that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has become the largest tourist source for Hezhou, with tourists from the Greater Bay Area accounting for 70 percent of the total tourists in the city.
By the end of 2018, Hezhou City received more than 28,000 tourists from Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan and other places, more than a half of whom were from Guangdong and Hong Kong.
Health tourism has become a new business card of Hezhou. In the coming years, the city will proactively promote development of new forms of tourism, such as sports tourism, industry tourism, and research and study tourism.
