BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Suning Holding Group had signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Unicom, one of the country’s leading telecom giants, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, the two sides will conduct an all-round strategic cooperation in 5G field and establish a 5G smart retail lab to develop targeted services.
The lab will experimentally build a number of 5G grocery stores in a bid to achieve more digital, refined and even unmanned services, said Shi Weiwei, deputy general manager of the Jiangsu branch of China Unicom, adding that it aims to set up a benchmark for the application of the 5G network in the retail industry.
5G not only represents the upgrading of technological dimension, but also brings new opportunities to the industry, said Jing Wei, Suning Technology Group's vice president. (Edited by Yang Yifan,yangyifan@xinhua.org, Huang Yuerong)
