BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Foreign trade in northwest China's Gansu Province presented sound growth momentum in the first four months this year, with imports and exports totaling 12.38 billion yuan.
Among it, the exports stood at 4.86 billion yuan, while the imports registered 7.52 billion yuan.
During this period, Gansu's imports and exports with Belt and Road countries notched 6.65 billion yuan, up 4.2 percent year on year and accounting for 53.7 percent of the province's total foreign trade value.
The Lanzhou New Area Free Trade Zone witnessed its foreign trade in the first four months rise by 210 percent year on year to 1.1 billion yuan, with exports and imports reaching 930 million yuan and 170 million yuan, up 210 percent and 140 percent year on year, respectively.
Imports and exports by private enterprises in Gansu during this period grew by 14.2 percent year on year to 5.54 billion yuan, accounting for 44.7 percent of Gansu's total foreign trade value in the same period. The exports were 4.27 billion yuan, up 17 percent year on year, while the imports were 1.27 billion yuan, up 5.8 percent year on year.
The province's processing trade keeps growing, the imports and exports of which increased by 40.2 percent year on year to 3.35 billion yuan from January to April this year, taking up 27.1 percent of Gansu's total foreign trade value. The exports were 1.12 billion yuan, up 3.7 percent year on year, while the imports were 2.23 billion yuan, up 70.2 percent year on year. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
