The Sea-Air service by RifLine Italia shortens the Silk Road distances

May 20, 2019

Abstract : After Bangladesh, Sri Lanka: RifLine Italia, an international logistics group, has decided to focus decisively on the subcontinent, opening operating offices in the two countries bordering with India.

MILAN, May 17 (Class Editori) – After Bangladesh, Sri Lanka: RifLine Italia, an international logistics group, has decided to focus decisively on the subcontinent, opening operating offices in the two countries bordering with India.

The most recent step was done by opening the Colombo office, with a staff of 7 import-export service professionals. The office is strategic for the development of the "Sea-Air" service, a type of transport that requires the goods to reach Colombo from Bangladesh or from China by ship and then continue to Europe by air.

This service, which allows halving the journey times normally required by sea, has very competitive rates, compared to the complete peer to peer air transport.

The opening of Colombo comes a few weeks from that of the Gulshan-Dhaka offices in Bangladesh and constitutes a significant strengthening of the international network of the Group and in particular in the South Asian, strategic for international trade, in which Rif Line Italia is among the leaders for presence on the territory and transported volumes.

"The new Colombo office represents for us a fundamental step to consider our company as one of the main players in South Asia. We are among the few Italian companies that have grown continuously in recent years, strengthening the international network. But above all, not only we are a partner for import/export to and from Italy, but also a global company, able to support customers for their international logistics needs to and from any part of the world", explained Francesco Isola, CEO of RifLine.

"Colombo in particular will allow us to reduce transport times and costs for customers, a prerequisite for even greater presence in the area market and also for the Chinese market".

In Bangladesh as well the company has deployed a team of experts to help companies that want to export or import from this area so important for Italy. The office was inaugurated Saturday, March 16 in Gulshan-Dhaka: 350 square meters alongside the office already present in Chittagong, Bangladesh with 40 employees.

Italy is the fifth commercial partner of Bangladesh and represents for Rif Line the second market, after the Chinese one. "Our most important growth strategies has always been proximity, the possibility of offering our customers a personalized service and punctual advice, ensuring a direct presence on import and export locations. For this reason, a strong presence in Bangladesh was fundamental for us, considering the role of the country and the entire area," explained Giorgio Voria, the Group chairman at the inauguration of the office.

Among the group's projects, whose headquarters are in Rome Fiumicino, there are also other openings shortly, with the aim of becoming the leader in Asia among the Italian-owned international logistics companies. In China RifLine Italia has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hong Kong and Tokyo and Osaka in Japan.
