BEIJING, May 17(Xinhua) -- With the advent of the 5G era, China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) plus 5G will bring new business opportunity, according to an industry development white paper released on May 15.
By the end of 2018, the BDS had landed in many countries and regions and began to provide global services, which marked application of BDS from China to the world.
The 5G transmission, combined with cloud computing system as well as intelligent processing has expanded the application field of BDS, noted the paper.
With the commercial use of 5G, BDS plus 5G is expected to be widely used in areas such as airport dispatching, robot inspection, building monitoring, vehicle monitoring, logistics management, etc., thus further promote the application and diversification of BDS services.
The commercial use of 5G technology will inject momentum into BeiDou's development in more areas on a larger scale, making 5G+BDS another economic growth point after mobile location service economy and sharing economy, said Li Donghang, deputy secretary-general of the GNSS & LBS Association of China.
