German exports dropped by a sharp 1.3 per cent in February, the Federal Statistical Office said on Monday, although more products and services were sold abroad than compared to the same month last year.
The fall is the biggest monthly decline in the last year.
Nevertheless, Germany exported goods to the tune of 108.8 billion euros (122 billion dollars) in February 2019, up by 3.9 per cent from February 2018.
As well as the downturn in exports, new orders in manufacturing slipped down 4.2 per cent month-on-month in February, the Federal Statistical Office announced last Thursday.
Amid signs of economic cooling, the government and various economic institutes lowered their 2019 gross domestic product (GDP) growth predictions for Europe's biggest economy in recent months.
