InfoQuest (March 27, 2019) -- Ms. Chutima Bunyapraphasara, deputy minister of commerce, noted that Thai enterprises should adjust strategies to promote the emerging SMEs, satisfy the ever-changing consumer needs and seek opportunities brought by global trend. After the trade war occurred in global market, competition is becoming fiercer, and demographic structure and urban sprawl also see fast changes.
"Realizing the significance of these changes, the Ministry of Commerce decided to support lifestyle products of SMEs to meet customization needs of global consumers. We will pay attention to global trend and develop SMEs and local industries," said deputy minister of commerce.
Ms. Bunjongjit Angsusingh, director-general of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) added that DITP launched various lifestyle products development programs, such as "60+", Pet Supplies, Infant & Mom, Host&Home program and so on, which focus on strengthening Thai SMEs, manual industries and local enterprises, so as to produce more products catering for customers. "60+" is a product development program aiming at Niche Market, which was devoted to supporting industries and providing knowledge training on the social trend of aging, and producing products to enter Japanese and French markets. Pet Supplies invited experts to industries to offer knowledge training, thus developing products to sell to potential markets, like Japan and South Korea. Infant & Mom program aimed to provide the trend information of infant and maternal products for companies. And Host &Home program employed experts from Europe to provide suggestions to develop hotel furniture and household supplies, making SMEs turn from OEM, ODM and OBM to product design and create self-owned brands.
In addition, the Ministry of Commerce introduced Functional Textile program to help Thai enterprises develop fashion products. Cooperating with designers, the program also offered information to textile, material and clothing companies. Qurated Fashion Incubation, a program for fashion brands, provided fashion trend information to companies, helping them develop products in a deep manner and supports Thai fashion companies to grow and increase competition in overseas market. The Ministry of Commerce also supported and developed Pattern Creator program to encourage different regions in Thailand to make cutting templates according to international standard. The New Faces and OTOP facilitated the products promotion and development of local enterprises and start-ups across the country and let products and enterprises flow from Local to Global.
Products developed in these programs will be exhibited in STYLE Bangkok in April this year. At that time, manufacturers, lifestyle products exporters and designers will attend the fair. The fair will include over 20 exhibitions and have more than 17,00 booths. Organized by the DITP, the fair will be held from April 17 to 21 in 2019 at BITEC Bangna covering an area of 41,000 square meters.
In addition, Material Solution will provide information to industries about the usage trends of materials. Designers' Room & Talent Thai, and Innovation and Design Showcase will exhibit design works and brands that deserve attentions.
"The Ministry of Commerce aims to shape Thailand into the production and export center featuring high-quality lifestyle products in the ASEAN region, and help STYLE Bangkok become an international lifestyle products fair, so it can satisfy the needs of buyers and sellers from different industries, becoming a platform for buyers and sellers to conduct business negotiations, exchange knowledge and keep track on the trend of lifestyle products. As a result, STYLE Bangkok will be considered an all-inclusive lifestyle products fair which is widely recognized across the world. "
