Germany's recent price hike has significantly weakened in the first month of 2019, its statistical office said.
The country's annual inflation dipped in January, falling 0.3 percentage points from December to hit 1.4 percent, the Federal Statistical Office said on Wednesday.
In its first published estimate of the year, the office said that consumer prices in January fell 0.8 percent from the previous month.
In recent years, annual inflation was highest in 2012, when it hit 2 percent.
The office based in Wiesbaden will release more details with the publication of its final January results on February 21.
