BEIJING, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Largest hydropower project in Cambodia runs smoothly since it was put into operation on 17th December last year.
The dam of the power station is 6,500 meters long, which is the first long dam in Asia. A total of eight 50,000-kilowatt bulb tubular units are installed, with a total installed capacity of 400,000 kilowatts, accounting for about 20 percent of Cambodia's total installed power generation capacity.
It is worth noting that the project is also the largest hydropower project in Cambodia with a designed annual power output of 1.97 billion kilowatt-hours.
The project employed a large number of local workers and leased Cambodian equipment. The completion of the project will surely benefit the people's livelihood and provide a strong foundation for the development of agriculture, industry and service industries, said Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen.
