BEIJING, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- China has unveiled a mobile app to make it easier for taxpayers to apply for special individual income tax deductions, the country's tax authority has said.
To file for the deductions, taxpayers can fill in an application form on the individual income tax app, available in main app stores, according to the State Administration of Taxation.
Besides using the app, taxpayers can also fill in paper or electronic versions of the form available on official websites of local tax administrations.
The special individual income tax deductions, which were announced by the State Council to lower the tax burden of people with certain expenditures, came into effect Tuesday.
The expenditures cover six areas: children's education, continuing education, treatment for serious diseases, housing loan interests, rents and elderly care.
