Miniso sews up massive expansion plan -- Miniso Corp, a low-cost retailer and variety store chain, plans to create more store brands, including those targeting third- and fourth-tier cities in China, to make the most of the ongoing urbanization trend and consumption upgrade. Dutch science firm to expand presence in China -- Royal DSM, a Dutch multinational specializing in nutrition, health and sustainable living, said it will further invest in its facility in Shunde, Guangdong province, as demand for more environmentally friendly products keeps growing in China's coatings industry. The group already expanded its investment at the Shunde plant last year, in order to boost manufacturing capacity of resins for waterborne paints and coatings products, according to Martin Vlak, managing director of DSM Specialty Resins. Nike targets increasingly active women's sports clothing market -- Nike has vowed to remove social barriers and promote women's sneaker culture, as the female sportswear market grows steadily. "Girls in sneakers have no future," said Dai Yitian, a 27-year-old female fashion design student, on social media. Her mindset reflects the stereotype that girls should wear dresses and heels, and sportswear is mainly for male consumers, a mindset Nike is tackling head on. One of the best-known global sportswear makers, Nike said it can only agree to disagree. Nippon Paint draws a rosy future -- Nipsea Group, the largest paints and coatings manufacturer in Asia by sales revenue, will set up a new plant in western China and automate production at most of its 41 factories across the country in the long-run to maintain robust growth, said a top company official. Eric Chung, president of Nippon Paint China - the local branch of Singapore-based Nipsea Group - said though the company currently has a plant in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, it will build another one in Qionglai in the same province, to meet the growing demand for furniture paints in western China.
