The German technology concern Siemens and the Russian liquified natural gas (LNG) giant Novatek have agreed to expand their cooperation. The respective board chairmen, Joe Kaeser and Leonid Michelson, reached agreement on the future cooperation Wednesday in Moscow, the Novatek company reported. The aim is for a strategic partnership in building LNG facilities, in gas deliveries and in gas-powered electricity production. Further details were not disclosed.
Novatek, a gas specialist which is the second-largest natural gas concern in Russia after Gazprom, produces natural gas on the Yamal Peninsula of northern Siberia and has invested billions of dollars in the production and shipping transport of LNG there. Siemens had been a "reliable supplier" in the construction of the facilities, Novatek chief Michelson said, according to the announcement.
"We want to expand our cooperation not only in Russia, but also in other countries," he said.
