  • FDI in Jiangsu (2016)

    Jiangsu Province is one of the most popular destinations for foreign investors to invest in China. By the end of 2014, Jiangsu province had been ranked No. 1 in the country in terms of using overseas capital for 12 years running and the overseas investment had played an important role in the steady and rapid development of the local economy, in industrial transition and upgrading and in social stability and in improving the people’s livelihood. 2015 marked a turning point. Jiangsu Province attracted FDI totaling 24.27 billion US dollars in 2015, down 13.8% year on year, ranking 2nd among China’s 31 provinces, municipalities and regions. A total of 605 foreign companies were newly established in the province in 2015, which added a net investment over 30 million US dollars. There were 72 multinational companies setting their regional headquarters in Jiangsu by the end of 2015. Meanwhile, there were 131 development zones at provincial level or above in Jiangsu at the end of 2015, including 44 state-level development zones and 20 customs special supervision areas. These development zones achieved revenue totaling 18.7 trillion yuan, up 12% from the previous year.
