Ningxia Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is located in northwest China or the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River. It covers an area of 66,400 square kilometers, with mountains and plains taking up 59% and 41% of its territory respectively. It has a population of 6.6154 million. <br></br> Ningxia has had the reputation of “An Oasis in the Hinterland” since ancient times, and has competitive edge in agriculture, energy and tourism. <br></br> The plain area of Ningxia features fertile lands, with 397 kilometres of lands along the Yellow River and an annual runoff volume of 32.5 billion cubic meters. Since the Yellow River can be easily utilized for irrigation, Ningxia has over 400,000 hectares of high and steady-yield irrigated farmlands, making it one of the four gravity irrigation areas of China. 43 varieties of agro-products including rice have been listed as products with national geographic indications. Halal beef and mutton, wine grapes, Gojiberry, selenium sand watermelon and other products are internationally renowned after fine processing. Brand names such as Jiabeilan Wine have won several international awards, and agro-products produced in Ningxia are sold to more than 90 countries and regions around the world. <br></br> Ningxia has an industrial system with pillar industries as coal, electricity, metallurgy, chemical industry, construction material and machinery. High and new-tech industries such as traditional medicine, mechatronics, bio-engineering, energy-conserving and environment-friendly industries and new material are developing fast. <br></br> Ningxia is rich in coal, making it the perfect place for coal-fired power plants. 90% of the reserve is in Ningdong Coal Mine, which produces low-ash, low-sulfur, ultra-low-phosphorus coal that can be easily extracted. The Yinchuan Plain is rich in oil, gas, coalbed natural gas and thermal resources. <br></br> Ningxia boasts unique tourism resources. It is famous for abundant historical sites and splendid cultural heritage. The Great Wall and the ancient Silk Road are symbols of its magnificence and roughness, while the southern beauty here is utterly delightful and exquisite; the Ruins of Shuidonggou in the City of Lingwu is a miniature of pre-historical civilization; the magical Western XiaImperial Tombs bear witness to the rise and fall of the Western Xia some 900 years ago; the picturesque Sand Lake Tourism Area is one of the top 35 tourist destinations of China; the Shapotou Tourism Area was commended by the United Nations as a successful example of sand control; the ancient culture along the Yellow River and the unique way of living of the Hui people have attracted tens of thousands of tourists from home and abroad. <br></br> The economy of Ningxia has been developing fast. In 2015, its GDP stood at 291.18 billion yuan with the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents hitting 25,186 yuan and 9,119 yuan, respectively. The province fulfilled 353.29 billion yuan of fixed assets investment in 2015.

Lying in the southeastern coast of China and bordering Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Guangdong, Fujian faces Taiwan across the Taiwan Straits and is one of mainland provinces the closest to Southeast Asia and Oceania, as well as an important window and base of China for global exchanges. <br></br> Total permanent population of Fujian reached 38.39 million by the end of 2015, according to the province’s statistical bureau. <br></br> China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) was launched in April 2015, together with the other three peers established after one-year successful operation of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, China's first-ever pilot FTZ. <br></br> The province's gross domestic production (GDP) stood at 2.6 billion yuan in 2015, up 9% year on year. Its fixed asset investment was 2.16 trillion billion yuan, representing an increase of 17.2% over 2014. <br></br> People of Fujian are famed for diligence, courage, industry and hospitality. This mountainous province is also renowned for the tradition of starting career in overseas countries, which makes it a famous hometown of overseas Chinese.

FDI in China (2016)
Under the backdrop of an active flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) around the globe, China reported a record high of FDI inflow in 2015, despite of the slowdown in its economy. It is a combined result of the country’s efforts in pushing forward the reform of foreign investment approval system, proceeding with the development of pilot free trade zones (FTZ), expanding the areas open to foreign businesses and optimizing foreign investment environment. According to FDI statistics released by local commerce department, China’s top ten destinations for foreign investment in 2015 were Guangdong, Jiangsu, Tianjin, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Beijing and Hunan.

Lying in the southeastern coast of China and bordering Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Guangdong, Fujian faces Taiwan across the Taiwan Straits and is one of mainland provinces the closest to Southeast Asia and Oceania, as well as an important window and base of China for global exchanges. Boasting a long history, Fujian was called the Region of Minyue during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Prefecture of Min-Zhong during Qing Dynasty. In the middle of Tang Dynasty, the post of Fujian Military Commissioner was established, and the province was hereafter called Fujian. The brief name of Fujian, "Min", is derived from Min River, the greatest river within the province. Covering a land area of 121,400 square kilometers and a sea area of 136,000 square kilometers, Fujian governs Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, Putian, Longyan, Sanming, Nanping and Ningde, as well as 85 subordinated counties, county-level cities and districts if Jinmen included.
