SANTIAGO, June 8 (Xinhua)-- The Bank of China announced opening of its Chilean branch on June 6 in Santiago, capital city of Chile. This is the second Chinese-funded bank settled in Chile.
Chen Siqing, chairman of the Bank of China, who attended the opening ceremony, said the establishment of the Chilean branch of the company will provide financial services for Chinese-funded enterprises, high-quality Chilean enterprises, and large-scale enterprises participating in China-Chile trade exchanges, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Xu Bu, Chinese ambassador to Chile said that China had been Chile’s largest trading partner for five consecutive years. In 2017, the bilateral trade between China and Chile exceeded 34 billion U.S. dollars, and investment cooperation also highlighted economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
It is believed that the Bank of China will play a positive role in promoting the in-depth development of China-Chile economic and trade relations and deepening financial cooperation between the two countries.
