BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Shandong Province is working on a plan for consolidated development of ports in Bohai Bay, which is scheduled to be released in September, local newspaper Dazhong Daily reported Sunday.
In late March, the province established a port holding group by consolidating three ports in Binzhou Dongying and Weifang respectively, into one platform.
The government is also mulling a merger between the Qingdao Port and Weihai Port for the next step of port assets integration.
Shandong is province rich in port resource in China. The cargo throughput at Shandong’s coastal ports exceeded 1.5 billion tons in 2017, ranking the second in the country. (Contributed by Ding Lei, dinglei@xinhua.org, edited by Zhang Aifang, zhangaf@xinhua.org)
