BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Hainan decides to establish the Haikou Jiangdong New Area as a centralized exhibition area for the construction of China (Hainan) Free Trade Pilot Zone.
The Haikou Jiangdong New Area, with a total area of 298 square kilometers, is located in the east coast of Haikou, consisting an ecological function area of 106 square kilometers in the east, and an industrial-city integration area of 192 square kilometers including airport industrial park area, Guilinyang National Tropical Agricultural Park, Guilinyang College Area and living area in the west.
Due to the unique location, first-class ecological environment and obvious advantages in late-starting development, Jiangdong is chosen to be a new area, said Fu Xuanchao, director of Hainan Development and Reform Commission.
In the future, Jiangdong New Area will be built into a pilot area of deepening reform and opening-up, a national experimental area for ecological civilization, an International tourism consumption center and a national strategic service guarantee area.
