BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- China will promote transformation and upgrading of the national economic and technological development zones to achieve high-quality development, said Gao Feng, spokesman of Ministry of Commerce (MOC) at a press conference on Thursday, quoted by the Xinhua-run China Securities Journal.
According to statistics of the MOC, in 2017, 219 national economic and technological zones saw their gross domestic product (GDP) stand at 9.1 trillion yuan, up 9.9 percent year on year, representing 3 percentage points higher than the national GDP growth (6.9 percent) at the same period, and accounting for 11 percent of the national GDP.
In 2017, these economic and technological zones realized the fiscal revenue of 1.8 trillion yuan, up 15.9 percent year on year, 8.5 percentage points higher than the average growth of national fiscal revenue, and accounting for 10.3 percent of the national fiscal revenue.
Last year, these zones saw the import and export volume worth 5.6 trillion yuan, up 17.5 percent year on year, accounting for 20.1 percent of the national imports and exports. (Edited by Jiang Feifan, Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
