Foreign trade decreased in the German city of Hamburg in 2017. The city exported goods with a total value of roughly 51.1 billion euros abroad last year, a decrease of 5.4 percent from 2016, according to Germany’s Northern Statistical Office.
One-fifth of these goods were exported to France. Deliveries to that country can predominantly be traced back to the exchange of components in joint European aircraft manufacturing, said the office this week.
Exports to all EU member states amounted to 52 percent of Hamburg’s external trade last year. China accounted for 11.6 percent of Hamburg’s exports, while the US had a share of 8.6 percent.
