BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- South China's Hainan Province has signed more than 60 cooperation agreements in areas such as friendly city exchanges, medical and health, tourism, service trade and offshore finance, with countries and regions along the Belt and Road routes in the past five years, according to the Xinhua-run China Securities Journal.
In terms of facilities connectivity, Hainan has accelerated the deployment of airports and ports and facilitated the flow of people and logistics with the Belt and Road countries and regions.
Hainan opened the direct air routes from Haikou or Sanya to cities including Bangkok, Singapore, and Phuket. The Province has seen its international air routes increase from 37 in 2014 to 52 in 2016.
In terms of unimpeded trade, Hainan Province has introduced some measures to promote imports, advance construction of the "single window" system for international trade, and accelerate the progress of export tax rebates.
In terms of tourism, in the past five years, the total number of tourists visiting Hainan has jumped from 33.204 million to 67.45 million, representing an average annual increase of 11.5 percent. The total tourism revenue has increased from 37.91 billion yuan to 81.2 billion yuan, an average annual increase of 15.4 percent. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
