BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) – Guangxi, an autonomous region located in South China, recently released a list of key tasks for participating in the Belt and Road Initiative in 2018.
The main points are:
1. To Accelerate Development of Landmark Projects
Guangxi will focus on the construction of the China-Singapore Southern Transport Corridor, China-ASEAN Information Harbor, and China-ASEAN Port City Cooperation Network, and improve cross-border transport links by road and air.
2. To Successfully Run Major Activities
Guangxi will make all efforts to host the 15th China-ASEAN Expo, the 15th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and the 10th Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum.
3. To Strength Bilateral Investment and Trade Cooperation
Guangxi will promote the China-Malaysia twin industrial parks, China-Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor, and some agricultural cooperation zones.
4. To Develop Marine Economy
Guangxi will develop marine-related industries such as deep-sea fishing, deep processing of aquatic products, and marine equipment manufacturing, boost local pearls farming, and accelerate the construction of cruise liners.
5. To Deepen Border Reforms on Finance
Guangxi will build a comprehensive cross-border platform for financial cooperation, accelerate the development of the Guangxi border comprehensive financial reform pilot zone, and explore the creation of a comprehensive insurance innovation pilot zone.
6. To Step up Cross Border Cooperation
Guangxi will accelerate the construction of the China-Vietnam Cross-Border Economic Cooperation Zone, and key border pilot zones for development and opening up.
7. To Strengthen Cultural Exchanges
Guangxi will expand international cooperation in various fields such as education, science and technology, culture, health care, sports, and law enforcement.
