BEIJING, Apr. 28 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua Silk Road, China’s state information service platform focusing on the Belt and Road Initiative under Xinhua News Agency, launches reports on business environment of Liaoning and Shanxi respectively on Saturday.
Liaoning Province, P.R.C.
The report, named Liaoning’s Business Environment & Assessment Report (2017), shows that as one of the first coastal provinces opening to the outside world, Liaoning province has become an important destination for foreign investment in Northeast China.
According to statistics released by the provincial Department of Commerce, Liaoning attracted 5.34 billion U.S. dollars of FDI in 2017, increasing 77.9 percent year on year. The secondary industry, the pillar industry of Liaoning province, utilized 3.09 billion U.S. dollars of FDI, showing a big rise of 199.8 percent, or an increase of 23.6 percentage points over the previous year, in which high-end manufacturing of communication equipments, computers and other electronic equipments attracted 1.45 billion U.S. dollars of FDI, jumping 360 percent year on year, accounting for 27.1 percent of the total.
However, such disadvantages as low efficiency of local government, insufficient competitive advantage and inadequate supporting services hindered more investments flowing into the province.
The report suggests foreign investors focus on opportunities in high-end manufacturing, scientific and technological research in Liaoning Province.
Shanxi Province, P.R.C.
Shanxi’s Business Environment & Assessment Report (2017) points out that Shanxi is an important place connecting south and north, east and west in China and is rich in mineral resources and well known for its coal reserves in particular.
The report shows with its advantages of mineral resources and favourable industrial conditions, Shanxi province has newly established 48 foreign-invested enterprises while attracting 1.69 billion U.S. dollars of foreign capital in 2017.
The report suggests that investors should pay attention to investment opportunities in the fields of ecosystem restoration and reconstruction of mining areas, comprehensive development and utilization of gas and coal associated resources, forage crop planting and deep processing.
The two reports are a part of a series of reports published by Xinhua Silk Road on the business environment of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions on Chinese mainland.
