BEIJING, Apr. 3 (Xinhua) -- China imported 2,974.1 tonnes of whisky from January to February, 2018, an increase of 66.7 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's whisky imports amounted to 26.297 million U.S. dollars during the period, an increase of 76.5 percent on year, at average unit price of 8,841.9 U.S. dollars per tonne, up 5.8 percent year on year.
In February alone, China imported 952.5 tonnes of whisky, up 28.6 percent on year, with value standing at 7.945 million U.S. dollars, up 26.9 percent year on year.
From January to February, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export whisky to China, The United Kingdom (UK) ranked the first by 22.775 million U.S. dollars in value of whisky, up 71.3 percent year on year followed by the United States and Japan, with value of 1.766 million U.S. dollars and 918,000 U.S. dollars, respectively.
In February, 2018, The UK ranked first with a value of 7.035 million U.S. dollars, followed by the United States and Ireland with value of 700,000 U.S. dollars and 87,000 U.S. dollars, respectively. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
