BEIJING -- Four stainless steel vapor condensate tanks made by a local company in Zhangjiagang city, Jiangsu province were shipped to France on Jan 28.
This is the first time that a nuclear pressure vessel from China has been introduced to the continent, and reflects the collaborative relations between China and Europe when it comes to technical standards.
Jointly developed by China Nuclear Power Engineering Co (CNPEC) and Suzhou Thvow Technology Co., Ltd, the four tanks are an important part of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project.
With a total investment of 15 billion euros, the ITER project is currently one of the world’s largest and most far-reaching scientific research collaboration ventures. It aims to convert man-controlled nuclear fusion, the so-called "artificial sun", from research into practical technology.
Suzhou Thvow Technology Company is a high-tech, multi-level, comprehensive large-scale modern group holding enterprises in Zhangjiagang.
Zheng Changbo, the chief manager of Thvow, said that the equipment was produced with stainless steel and double standard materials and that its design, manufacture and quality assurance were extremely strict.
The delivery cycle is only 15 months, about half that of the similar nuclear power equipment.
The smooth delivery of the tanks fully presents the capability of Chinese enterprises in equipment manufacturing and project management.
