Xiamen Airlines launches direct Qingdao-Los Angeles flights -- Xiamen Airlines, a subsidiary of China Southern Airlines, launched a direct service from Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province to Los Angeles on December 11. This is the first non-stop service linking the two cities and Xiamen Airlines' ninth intercontinental air route. A 287-seat Boeing 787 will operate three round trip flights a week. The flights take about 11 hours 30 minutes each way.
First direct flight launched between Jinan and Moscow -- The first direct flight from Jinan, east China's Shandong Province, to Moscow, Russia departed on the afternoon of December 8. It is the second international route for Jinan, following a direct flight to Los Angeles. Russia's iFly Airlines operates the route using Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft.
Air China opens direct air route between Shenzhen, Los Angeles -- A Boeing 787-9 aircraft from China's southern city Shenzhen landed at Los Angeles International Airport on the evening of December 7, marking the official opening of a direct air route between the two cities. China's exclusive national carrier, Air China, celebrated the launch of its newest route between the United States and China at Tom Bradley International Terminal of Los Angeles International Airport.
Air cargo services launched between China's Wuhan, Chicago -- Air cargo services have been launched between Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei province, and Chicago. A B747-F aircraft carrying 105 tonnes of Chilean cherries and salmon landed at 4:35 p.m. at the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, marking start of the first intercontinental air cargo route in Wuhan. The route is operated by Apex Logistics, a logistic company based in Shanghai. The flight is scheduled three times per week.
China-Laos railway tunnel holing through -- Ban Somsanook No. 2 Tunnel, the first tunnel along the China-Laos railway has been bored through in Laos' Vientiane Province with the length of 301 meters. Bai Jian, representative of Sino Corporation Engineering Bureau 15 Co., Ltd, the tunnel project contractor, told Xinhua on December 13 that the tunnel has been constructed safely with high quality. The China-Laos railway has a length over 414 kilometers, linking Mohan-Boten border gate in northern Laos and capital Vientiane. Operating speed on the route is designed at 160 km per hour. The railway is expected to open to traffic in December 2021.
Construction of China-Russia natural gas pipeline gains steam -- China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) said on December 13 that it had sped up laying natural gas pipelines connecting China and Russia, a major energy cooperation between the two countries. Welding of the northern part of the 3,371-kilometer east-route natural gas pipeline has begun, the company announced. Upon completion, the pipeline will provide China with 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia annually. It will have far-reaching significance for optimizing China's energy structure, cutting emissions and improving air quality.
CSCEC signs contract for GTC curtain wall, door & window aluminium alloy project -- China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Kenya) signed a contract with AVIC International Real Estate Kenya Limited for GTC curtain wall and door & window aluminium alloy project, with a contract value at 22.75 million U.S. dollars (approximately 150.6027 million yuan), according to www.bhi.com.cn. With a total covered area of some 300,000 square meters, the project is the largest investment project of Chinese enterprises in Kenya at present.
Dongfang Electric signs a 300MW coal-fired power plant agreement with Georgia -- Dongfang Electric Corporation signed an agreement with Georgia Power Corporation on constructing a 300MW coal-fired power plant in Georgia. With an estimated investment of 250 million U.S. dollars, the power plant will meet the winter power consumption need of Georgia and supply power to Turkey in summer, according to www.bhi.com.cn.
Sinohydro Foundation inks deal on residential buildings project in Cambodia -- Sinohydro Foundation Engineering Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of PowerChina, had inked a deal on residential buildings project in Cambodia, according to www.bhi.com.cn. Located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with covered area of about 12,000 square meters, the project is Sinohydro's first EPC housing project in Cambodia, as well as the first overseas housing EPC project of Sinohydro Foundation, which is scheduled to be constructed in 15 months.
CRIG signs M101 Sky wheel project in Kuala Lumpur -- China Railway International Group (CRIG) had signed a contract with M101 Holdings on M101 sky wheel hotel and office building project in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, according to www.bhi.com.cn.With a total area of some 200,000 square meters and a contract amount of about 214 million U.S. dollars (approximately 141.5628 million yuan), the project is located in the city center of Kuala Lumpur, only 2.9 kilometres away from the PETRONAS Twin Towers.
