YANGON, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will hold its mid-year gems emporium in Nay Pyi Taw in mid-December to boost sale of gems and jade, according to a statement of the Information Ministry issued late Saturday.
The Myanmar Mid-Year Gems Emporium-2017, sponsored by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, will take place from Dec. 12 to 21.
Myanmar national gem and jewelry businessmen are invited to bid on lots of jade for sale.
Myanmar held its 54th annual gems emporium in August this year, selling 518.824 million euros (690 million U.S. dollars) worth of 5,197 gem and jade, lots under open tender system, and was attended by 5,311 local and foreign gem traders.
Myanmar's gems emporiums have been held annually since 1964. Enditem
