BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) plans to channelize more financial, technical and human resources into infrastructure projects in Africa, particularly in Angola and Mozambique, said CHEC Chairman Lin Yichong recently in Windhoek, capital of Namibia.
As part of China-Africa cooperation, CHEC has been involved in several infrastructural projects in Namibia, including the construction of a garbage landfill near the container terminal in Walvis Bay, and the "national fuel depot", said Lin.
CHEC has also been participating in the construction of Angola's Port of Lobito, Mozambique's Port of Beira, Port of Abidjan in Cote d'Ivoire, Tanzania's Port of Dar-es-salam and Cameroon's Port of Kraba.
Lin pointed out that Africa's GDP reduced by 2 percent as many African infrastructure projects have been at a nascent stage citing data from African Development Bank. "Infrastructural development is conducive to the faster growth of African countries' productive industrial sectors," he added.
At present, CHEC is operating in almost 100 countries and is implementing projects amounting to a total investment of 29 billion dollars.
