LUSAKA, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Zambia and Rwanda have signed three agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation after talks held by leaders of the two countries in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, the Zambian leader's office said Tuesday.

The two governments signed the agreements after talks between visiting Rwandan President Paul Kagame and his Zambia counterpart Edgar Lungu late on Monday.

Among the deals includes cooperation on air services industry, defense and security as well as extradition.

The Zambian leader hailed the visit, saying it marks an important milestone in improving the relations between the two countries.

In remarks delivered during a state banquet held in honor of the visiting leader on Monday night, Lungu said Zambia was keen to learn from Rwanda's remarkable achievements in agriculture and food security.

"I have no doubt that this visit will set our two countries on firm ground for enhanced cooperation," he said.

On his part, the Rwandan leader said his visit was important as it would culminate in deepening the economic cooperation aimed at uplifting the living standards of people of the two countries.

He called for exploration of key economic areas such as security, education, trade and investment considering the untapped potential in the two countries.
