BEIJING, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia’s largest single-unit thermal power generator Java #7 project undertaken by a consortium of Chinese companies started construction on January 16, according the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News.
Indonesia’s state electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) launched an international public auction for project including thermal power units with total installed capacity of 2,015 MW.
In December 2015, Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Corp., Ltd., China Energy Engineering Group Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Co., Ltd. in collaboration with China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd. won the bid among 36 international competitors.
The project includes two 2,000 MW ultra supercritical coal-burning power sets and this is China’s first overseas 1,000-MW level independent coal-fired power projects.
Yan Zizheng, president of China Shenhua’s subsidiary in Java, said at the ceremony that the Java #7 project is a key project of Indonesia’s electricity power development plan and a model project of large state-owned companies from the two countries. It will bring clean and high-quality electricity power for Indonesia’s economic development as soon as possible.
Gu Juhong, manager of the project said that total investment of the power plant is 2 billion dollars and is loaned from China Development Bank. The power plant is expected to be put into operation in 2020 and the operation period is 25 years. Enditem (Edited by Yang Qi, kateqiyang@xinhua.org)
