BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Tianjin Municipal People’s Government and the Chinese Academy of Engineering has signed a cooperation agreement to jointly establish new-generation artificial intelligence (AI) development strategy research institute, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Monday.
The institute shall be committed to bringing forth solutions and industrial reform measures for the development of China’s new-generation AI technology industry. The institute shall develop overall strategies and plans, while facilitating intelligent science and technology to contribute to national governance and social development. It shall propel intelligent science and technology to benefit people’s livelihood.
According to this cooperation agreement, firstly, the institute will probe into the technological and industrial development chronicles in the global AI realm, keep abreast of state-of-the-art intelligent technology developments and carry out forecasts for the future cutting-edge AI technologies and sectors. Secondly, the institute will gain insights into the international trends and current statuses of China’s science, technology and industry. It will address scientific and technological issues in the AI domain and release significant scientific and technological directions and achievements. Thirdly, the institute will establish regional and global intelligent evaluation systems and disclose evaluation outcomes.
At the same time, the institute will regularly publish evaluation reports and countermeasures research reports on development profiles and development levels of intelligent science and technology industry in China and other major countries and regions.
According to the cooperation agreement, the institute will also dedicate itself to setting up related technical standards and standardized systems for intelligent science and technology industry. It will push forward development and implementation of key common standards, actively lead the development of relevant international standards and advance the construction of big-data and intelligent technology testing, certification and evaluation system.
The world’s top AI talents are invited to exchange views at multiple levels, roll out an international cooperation platform of intelligent science and technology industry, boost integrated development of manufacturing sector, universities, research institutes and investors in the field of AI and create innovation-oriented cooperation platform, industry clustering platform and investment and financing synergy platform.
