SHANGHAI, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- France, Italy, Spain and other non-English speaking countries in Europe have become the "new blue ocean" for China’s cross-border e-commerce retail exporters, showed the latest report from EBay released in China.
Currently, sales of Chinese sellers on eBay in French, Italian and Spanish markets recorded an average growth rate of over 300 percent in the last three years. The high-speed growth and great potential have made these markets a new engine to drive growth of Chinese cross-border e-commerce retail industry.
"As breakthroughs have been made in a series of challenges faced by cross-border export industry such as market, logistics and language, brand recognition for Chinese products and consumers’ enthusiasm have been improved in France, Italy, Spain and other non-English countries. Many Chinese sellers are gradually taking their eyes on the ‘new blue ocean’ and trying to land on the whole European Union market," said Zhou Haiying, general manager of cross-border trade department of EBay China.
According to a survey of Ecommerce Europe, among the 820 million European residents, 530 million are Internet users and 259 million are online shoppers. Ecommerce Europe predicts that by the end of 2016, the B2C e-commerce market scale in Europe will double to reach 625 billion euros.
Zhou said that in European non-English markets, communication products, computer and accessories in electronic category, shoes, garment and accessories in fashion category, home improvement tools in household gardening category, and industrial instruments in industrial and office supplies category are the most popular products from China.
With more supporting policies introduced, transformation of traditional foreign trade accelerating, and e-commerce penetration increasing, Chinese cross-border e-commerce retail export is entering a period of rapid growth growth. Previously, due to differences in language, culture and geography, Chinese sellers’ development in non-English markets was almost blank.
Now Chinese sellers’ enthusiasm to explore non-English markets in Europe is rising. Data from eBay show that in the 12 months after the first half of 2015, Chinese sellers on eBay having business in France, Italy and Spain grew 45 percent, and the number of products increased more than 65 percent.
