BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- China aims to build 160 bio-gas and agriculture demonstration counties by 2020, developing a low-carbon bio-gas industry with annual output of 8 billion cubic meters. This goal was released by the National Energy Administration as part of the Development Plan for Biomass Energy in the 13th Five-Year Plan.
The plan aims to realize the large-scale commercial utilization of biomass energy by 2020. It also points out that new investment in biomass energy will soon reach 196 billion RMB, of which 40 billion will go to biomass power generation and 120 billion to biogas development.
China will promote the use of ethanol fuel, studying advanced skills from foreign countries, upgrading its biodiesel project and providing comprehensive strategies for food safety, food security and energy security issues.
