BEIJING, Apr. 7 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai should step up its efforts to propel the development of the Shanghai International Tourism and Resort Zone, Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong said on Wednesday.
He noted that the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone, which encompasses the Shanghai Disney Resort as its centerpiece, run smoothly and orderly since its opening to visitors and is of exemplary significance for promoting foreign cooperation and the integration of Chinese and Western cultures.
Shanghai should magnify radiation and spillover effects of the Shanghai Disney Resort and make efforts to establish industrial clusters that takes the tourism zone as essential characteristics, Ying said, adding that Shanghai should also further optimize the zone’s public service facilities, including tourist facilities, transportation and catering business, in a bid to make the Shanghai International Tourism and Resort Zone become one of the top leisure destinations for Shanghai citizens.
Besides, he emphasized that relevant authorities should give more supports for the development of the Shanghai International Tourism and Resort Zone, and the Shanghai Pudong New Area where the zone is located, should also take an active role in the process.
