HO CHI MINH CITY, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City saw consumer price index (CPI) in December increase 0.52 percent against November, or 4.41 percent against the same period last year, the municipal Statistics Office said Friday.
Among 11 groups of goods and services used to calculate CPI, seven witnessed rise in prices and charges in December. Specifically, prices of pharmaceuticals and charges of medical services surged 19.03 percent, and those of housing, electricity, running water, fuels and construction materials increased 0.29 percent.
Prices and charges of cultural, entertainment and tourism services, garments, hats, footwear, drinks, and cigarettes increased from 0.05 percent to 0.19 percent in December, said the office. Meanwhile, prices and charges of postal and telecommunications services, and home appliances dropped from 0.15 percent to 1 percent.
Vietnam's CPI in December increased 0.23 percent against November, the country's General Statistics Office said, noting that the index in 2016 rose 2.66 percent against 2015.
