CCECC to lay new Lagos-Ibadan rail in December -- The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) will start to lay new standard gauge rail in December between Lagos and Ibadan, according to a Nigerian media report released on September 15. When completed, the track will run 156.65 kilometers and feature two-way lane design. The Lagos-Ibadan New Railway has an estimated cost of 458 billion Nigerian Nairas and will be funded by the governments of both Nigeria and China.

Bangladeshi, Chinese firms sign joint venture pacts to build railway -- Officials of Bangladesh Railways and joint venture China Railway Group Limited (CREC) of China and Toma Construction and Company Limited of Bangladesh; and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and MAX JV (joint adventure of CCECC of China and MAX international Ltd of Bangladesh) signed two joint venture pacts to build over 100 km rail lines and required infrastructure in the country's southeastern Cox's Bazar district bordering Myanmaron September 16. In line with the agreements, the Bangladeshi and the Chinese firms will construct 102 km new dual gauge line along with 185 major and minor bridges under two different projects. Railway officials said the project is scheduled to be completed in three years.

CCECC Algeria FTTH Project breaks ground -- China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) recently signed a contract with Huawei for design and construction of the Algeria FTTH project, following which, construction work has started. The project has an after-tax contract value of USD 50.58 million and a construction period of 12 months.

China-invested PV power station enters operation in Russia -- A 15-megawatt photovoltaic power station, with investment from China-based Sirius Holding Group, has been put into operation in Astrakhan, Russia. The station generates 15,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per hour. The company's investment was expected to be recouped in five years, according to Cui Zhiwei, deputy general manager of Sirius.

New air route opens between China and Vietnam -- Chinese low cost carrier Lucky Air on September 17 launched a direct air route between Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province, and Hanoi, capital of Vietnam. The air route, the first linking Jiangxi with Hanoi, will boost economic cooperation and tourism of the two places. The flight runs every Wednesday and Sunday.

CCCC signs TNR expressway project loan agreement -- On September 8, the loan agreement for the expressway project connecting the Antananarivo Ivato International Airport and the Boulevard De L'europe was signed in Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar. China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) will construct the project, with preferential buyer credit from the Export-Import Bank of China. With a full length of some 18.7 kilometers and a construction period of 18 months, the project will be designed and constructed in accordance with Chinese standards.

Chashma NPP Phase I completed, Chinese technologies benefit locals -- According to the source of China Nuclear Engineering & Construction Corporation (CNEEC), Chashma NPP Unit 4 constructed by CNEEC was completed on September 8 Pakistan Time, marking the completion of the four units in Chashma NPP Phase I. The completion of Chashma NPP Phase I will further alleviate the power shortage of Pakistan, promote its economic construction and improve the life of locals.

Bangladeshi, Chinese companies team up to build private power plant -- A Chinese and Bangladeshi consortium company will build a 150 MW power plant for a leading local private firm in the country's northeastern region. Midland East Power Ltd, a leading local firm, signed an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contact with consortium of Chinese CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. and Bangladeshi Green Power Ltd. for construction of 150 MW HFO power plant at Ashuganj in Bangladesh's Brahmanbaria district, some 109 km northeast of capital Dhaka. Midland is the owner and developer of the power plant which is to be constructed on nine acres of land.
