Abstract : Project Brief

POWERCHINA signs contract to widen 81km-long road from Kurtay to Burylbaytal, Kazakhstan -- The signing ceremony for the 81km-long road project from Kurtay to Burylbaytal, Kazakhstan was held in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan. Located in Almaty, the 81km-long road starts a kilometer away from the Jambyl-Almaty junction and ends at approximately 190 kilometers away from Almaty City. The project will last for 33 months. This project is the fourth road construction project of POWERCHINA in Kazakhstan, while the underlying road is an important section in the road transportation network of “Western China–Western Europe”.

WISDRI and top Vietnamese steel enterprise sign bulky contracts -- Two general contracts with the total value of USD 170 million have been signed between WISDRI Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited and Vietnam Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Complex, a top Vietnamese iron and steel enterprise. The main bodies of the project are four 120-ton converter production lines, which are expected to be put into operation (Phase I) at the end of 2018. After being put into full operation, the project’s annual capacity will exceed 4 million tons. It has the capability of generating electricity by fully recycling hot coke oven gas, coke made by dry flameout steam, blast furnace surplus gas and other gases and steams.

Huawei Marine Networks, Solomons Oceanic Cable sign contract for submarine cable construction -- Huawei Marine Networks Co., Ltd. (Huawei Marine) and Solomons Oceanic Cable Company (SOCC) has recently signed Submarine Cable Construction Contract to build the first submarine cable in the Solomon Islands. According to the agreement, an overall system solution on submarine cable will be provided by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and Huawei Marine Networks Co., Ltd. to SOCC. The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2019 and will be operated by SOCC.

Morocco, China sign deal to build Africa's tallest skyscraper in Rabat -- A Chinese firm has signed a deal with Moroccan companies to build the tallest skyscraper in Africa in the capital of Morocco, local media reported on July 23. The deal was concluded in Casablanca by China Railway Construction Corporation and Morocco's BMCE Bank of Africa and Travaux Generaux de Construction de Casablanca, Morocco's leading Construction Company, le360.ma news site said. 

China State Construction signs contract for office complex construction in Zambia -- China State Construction on July 21entered into a contract with Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants for building a 10-storey office complex, parking lots and auxiliary facilities with an area of about 370,000 square meters for the latter. The contract involves ZMK 511,655,377.13 or USD 57.93 million and the contract term is 24 months. The project is located in CBD of Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia, and around the business complex of Zambia Public Pension Authority, which is being constructed by China State Construction and Arcades Shopping Mall.

Sinohydro Bureau 14 wins water supply and sewerage project in Mexico -- Sinohydro Bureau 14 was recently awarded the bid for water supply and sewerage project in Hofusan Industrial Park in Mexico. It has become another member firm under POWERCHINA to successfully enter the Mexican market, paving a new way for exploiting the North American market potential. The project covers digging, equipment procurement and installation, and refilling for a 4,416-meter-long water supply pipeline and a 5,230-meter-long sewage discharge pipeline. It includes the entire construction of the water and sewage project.

Bangladesh to boost up construction of coal-fired power plants -- Bangladesh plans to build 22 coal-fired power plants over the next four years for catering to growing domestic demand for energy, Nasrul Hamid, the country’s State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said. According to Hamid, the Bangladesh government and the private sector will construct seven coal-fired power plants each, while eight such plants will be constructed by means of joint operation. The government hopes that the construction work will begin in 2019.
