SHANGHAI, June 4 (Xinhua Silk Road) -- The 2026 Global Industrial Technology Innovation Conference & China-Australia Innovation Week, co-hosted by the National Innovation Center par Excellence (NICE) and the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations (WAITRO), was held recently in east China's Shanghai.
The event, co-organized by the Federation of Chinese Scholars in Australia (FOCSA), brought together around 400 researchers, university leaders, entrepreneurs and policy experts from more than 10 countries and regions.
Under the theme "Social, Collaborative, and Open Innovation for Sustainable Development", the event features a plenary summit, 12 focused sessions and a series of study tours across the Yangtze River Delta. Topics span biomedicine, artificial intelligence, micro/nano manufacturing, robotics and intelligent manufacturing.
By now, NICE has established 110 R&D platforms across six industry sectors and incubated 197 frontier technology companies. It has also set up joint innovation centers with more than 700 leading enterprises.
A series of partnership agreements were signed at the opening ceremony. NICE signed strategic collaboration agreements with three universities and two investment institutions, including the University of Wollongong, Istanbul Technical University and the University of Hong Kong. 13 domestic tech firms set up joint innovation centers with NICE, while global innovation partnerships were formalized with three multinational corporations.
