KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (Xinhua) -- A cultural and tourism promotion event was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Thursday, showcasing the breathtaking natural scenery and unique ethnic culture of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region through a variety of activities.
At the event, representatives from the cultural and tourism departments and enterprises of Inner Mongolia introduced the region's diverse landscapes, cultural features, signature cuisines, and well-designed travel routes covering themes such as grasslands, deserts, humanities, and history.
Artists from Inner Mongolia performed traditional music and dance, offering the audience a vivid glimpse into the region's cultural charm.
Lee Thai Hung, deputy director general of Tourism Malaysia, noted that while Malaysia is endowed with oceans and beaches, Inner Mongolia boasts vast grasslands and deserts. He highlighted the strong complementarity and distinctive features of the two destinations.
He also expressed hope that the promotion would further boost practical cooperation and enable people on both sides to better explore each other's unique natural and cultural attractions.
Han Ning, director of the China Cultural Center in Kuala Lumpur, said that China and Malaysia are important source markets for each other's tourism industry. Since the mutual visa exemption policy took effect, flight capacity has continued to increase, and services such as airport payment systems and tourist guides have been steadily improved, making spontaneous travel between the two countries a reality.
"The significant rise in inbound visitors and the strong recovery of the tourism sector have injected momentum into the economies of both countries and strengthened public support for building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future," she said.
During the event, Chinese and Malaysian travel companies also signed memoranda of cooperation and held business negotiations.
